The bears like the area for the same reason the ski bums do: the ski hills. In summer, the de-forested slopes sprout all sorts of berries and other food that the bears like to eat. Hikers and bikers that visit the Whistler Mountain Bike Park regularly see the animals grazing in the area. Despite the high number of bears in the area, there has never been a bear attack or fatality in Whistler. |
